Thursday, 2 May 2019

Lukas Schmidt (29) is specialised in M&A, private equity, venture/growth capital and start-ups. He was admitted to the bar in April 2019 and has been working in the DORDA Corporate M&A Team since 2014. Lukas Schmidt advises national and international clients on M&A and private equity transactions. In the area of start-ups, he advises founders and investors on financing rounds and exits. Another field he focuses on are M&A transactions in the technology and digitalisation sector.

Lukas Schmidt, an accomplished athlete and tennis league player, completed his studies of law in record time (7.5 semesters), served a year in court and then moved to New York. As a foreign trainee, he discovered his passion for the M&A business. From New York he moved back to Austria and started at DORDA, where he joined Martin Brodey's M&A team in 2014 as an associate. Among his biggest projects were the successful restructuring of Baumax, the acquisition of a real estate portfolio for the private equity investor Lonestar Funds and the take-over of the Amann Girrbach Group. In the area of start-ups, Lukas Schmidt has acted for both founders and investors in several financing rounds and has already gained a foothold in the European start-up ecosystem. He gained further international experience during a 6-month secondment at the listed UK law firm Gateley Plc, where he advised on several transactions for private equity funds in the technology sector.

Managing Partner and head of the DORDA M&A practice Martin Brodey praises his young colleague: "Lukas Schmidt approaches his advisory work with the same spirit as his athletic career. Clients appreciate his perseverance, precision and assertiveness. He is a great team player and an enrichment to our practice group."
