DORDA strengthens its foreign trade law and sanctions practice

Date:
Wednesday, 4 December 2019

In times of globalisation, it is becoming more and more important to offer goods and services across borders, in order to operate economically and to keep pace with the competition. At the same time, for political reasons, countries are regulating international trade and capital transactions more than ever. The result is an ever tight network of regulations. In order to fully exploit the potential of international trade and at the same time minimise the risk of sanctions, companies must comply with these rules.

With this in mind, DORDA has strengthened its presence and focus in the area of foreign trade law and sanctions. DORDA partner Bernhard Müller, who was recently awarded the Client Choice Award in Public Law for his client-oriented and practice-oriented approach, and Heinrich Kühnert, partner and head of the Competition and Regulatory Law practice group at DORDA, both head the team of experts in this area. Associates Dominik Widl and Lisa Todeschini also support the team.

Together the team advises on foreign trade law and in particular on international and European sanctions, licensing requirements for foreign investors, embargoes and the export of dual-use goods. Their goal is to help optimise processes and represent clients in potential conflict situations with authorities.

"The economic world is becoming an increasingly competitive one due to globalisation. This makes it even more important to be active also across borders. With the new practice areas, we are focusing entirely on foreign trade law and sanctions," says Bernhard Müller, head of DORDA's Foreign Trade Law and Sanctions area of practice. "We support our clients in the implementation of compliance systems, accompany internal investigations and defend them in infringement proceedings. With this work field, we offer tailor-made advice from a single source."
